Everywhere we look we can see the time: on the bank marquee, our cells, the dish t.v. guide. Because of this we are more aware than ever that time marches on and we are at the mercy of the always ticking clock. But does this really take away from the meaning of life? In his short play, Time Flies, David Ives shows that even those with a very short time can make the most of each moment. Two mayflies meet and begin to fall in love. After learning they only live for one day, and overcoming the initial panic and fear that this causes, they decide to fly to Paris and make the most of it. We can learn a lesson from these mayflies. Sure life is short. Sure we spend most of our days racing to and fro on meaningless errands. Its those moments when we slow down, sitting down at a meal with our families, reading a good book, that we find the things that give life meaning. By making the good moments last we overcome time and make life meaningful. *This video is in English, though what is written is not.
