Evil Knievel? Some may ask, who and why? Well kids he was a living legend, and he lived at our house! Okay not the real one but we had our own version! Going back to a time where being in a house full of six kids there was nothing else to do but be outside, but that may have been also do to the fact that we ran in & out so much that our mom locked us out. So being kids we did what all red blooded American kids did was play out being non other than Evil Knievel. Alright not every kid but one individual in my household did. He built ramps out of old discarded lumber of my dads and proceeded to amaze the Neighborhood kids, some would even travel from streets over, come from houses down to see this amazing feat, by neighborhood kids i mean 2 which were also the objects he jumped over, 1 being me and the other my brother Paul. As we laid down on the street between the ramps, our fearless daredevil took his position down the street so he could get enough speed to jump over. There we stayed waiting in anticipation for the jump and when it happened I remember having that same reaction you get on that final crank that makes the Jack in the box pop out, you know like Buddy the Elfs reaction!! He did this time and time and each time moving the ramps further apart, make landings with some difficulty but ended up keeping it together. Well the last jump lead to his dimiss of ever fulfilling his dream of being that amazing daredevil and also my parents seeing what he was doing. My mom yelled what the hell are you doing and quit laying in the street do you wanna get ran over?? Which ws my dads response. I didnt care i was having fun hanging with my big brothers. You may not have made it big in that career, but you were a great big brother!! Todays memory brought to you by my favorite daredevil and Birthday boy!!
