As I grew up evry person arnd me n like me had increasing devotion on u, u had turned hobby n interest in cricket into passion,a religion, a hero had just become GOD. Evn the tastiest food were eaten cold,trips were canceled,haha I had Evn pretended to b ill whn in school n taken 2,3 straight days leave just to watch u bat. Vll loose,is sachin batting,scored 100?how subconsciously our eyes reaches out to ur name in scorecard first, n it was true at a certain time of Indian cricket if it wasnt u v cud nvr win,u carried the nations weight n hopes of billion ppl. Crowd used to gather at roadside tv showrooms to c u complete century,ppl wud finish their work early n gt bk home,grandpas checked their glasses to b fine,how many wives wud hve scolded their spouses fr nt taking thm shopping on match day,husbands wud just smile y not sachin u scored a 100. When u smiled the country smiled,whn u scored a 100 every1 felt as if he/she has scored,whn u cried the country cried. Commentators wud cry in pleasure when u pulled McGrath over square leg,whn u danced dn the track to send warne out of the park,Evn though it sounds Mild it was grt to hear tony geig say Wht a wonderful player,Wht a wonderful playerwhn u scored those bk to bk hundreds against oz. I remember the 1st time I was in a stadium to watch a match,a test,the entire day I just saw u n nothing else,just how a proud disciple feels whn he saw god fr the first time. Whn world said they had walsh,McGrath,warne,pollock,Ambrose,bishop,wasim,murali,vaas,caddick,Steyn v were like r u kidding me v hve sachin, u won all the Contest n our hearts. Thr r many grts in sports bradman,schumi,feddrrer,pele but Wht seperates u frm the rest of thm is the tag given by a billion ppl, God.Thr r grts n legends but Thrs only one God. Its not runs n the number of years alone but the way u united the nation n carried the hopes of a billion ppl tirelessly,the expectation to score a 100 each time u walk into bat fr 24 yrs is forever going to b missed.
