Exactly 20 days ago, I began questioning PK movie, with the first post in the series being that of a conversation with a friend in which the friend finally admits that the movie is a hilarious Anti-Hindu movie. (Please note that I have always questioned it but never asked for boycott/ban. All I wanted to highlight was the selective hypocrisy). Most of my friends disagreed with me because they thought the movie had equally mocked/criticized all religions. Some of my friends were very much upset with my series of posts because they felt I should not even question the movie. I had told everybody that the movie is a subtle propaganda which might be not be apparent while watching it, but after few days, as the mind clears up, it will start becoming obvious. Many told me that my posts have actually helped the movie because it tempted them to go and watch it, which helped in its box office collection. Let me make it very clear: My intention was never to boycott the movie and hence if the movie makes money (Rs 300 crore or 600 crore), it is not a concern at all. Earning Rs 300 crore by such propaganda is nothing compared to the tens of thousands of crores pumped by missionaries for bigger propaganda (You can google for Home Ministers statement on how much money is being pumped into India for those activities). However, what is interesting here is that in some parts of the movie, Hindu babas were portrayed as frauds because they earn so much of money but do nothing for poor. Now, I would like to ask the producers of PK: You have earned Rs 300+ crores by ridiculing such fraud babas who do not serve the poor. Now, what are you doing with this Rs 300+ crores? If you are not helping the poor with this money, how different are you from those fraud babas? Anyway, those are secondary questions, but my primary questioning had always been about the selective hypocrisy of the movie in mocking only certain religion while being too soft on the other religions. Although nothing wrong in it (because they have the freedom of expression and the religion being mocked is mature and highly tolerant), it had to be pointed out because no matter how much of paint and decoration are added to a spade, at the end of the day, a spade is a spade. In the last few days (especially after the recent tragic events in Paris), most of them have realized what I had been trying to point out.
