Exactly a year ago, we fought and prayed for our lives and as much - TopicsExpress

Exactly a year ago, we fought and prayed for our lives and as much as possible, I dont want to recall anymore what my family went through during those darkest days in our lives because I lifted everything to God. Few days ago, I was invited by different organizations to join with them to commemorate the first anniversary of ST Yolanda but I politely declined. My reason is very simple. I want to be with my family and serve my community as well. And so, together with the DNHSAAI and DNHS Batch 92 and in coordination with the DENR-CENRO-Palo, I organized a tree-planting activity early this morning at the beaches of Brgy. Rizal Dulag, Leyte. This was supported by the teachers of Dulag South District specifically Rizal Elementary School, Salvacion ES, Alegre ES, Cabacungan ES, Del Carmen ES, Victory ES, Rawis ES and KABALIKAT Dulag Chapter. Ms. Jane Alicando Firmo and Maam Emy Tupaz Elizarde, I am truly grateful for your overwhelming support on this project. My family and I had a thanksgiving lunch and later in the afternoon, we had the traditional parosaryo. It (parosaryo) is a Waray (and Catholic) ritual to remember our loved ones, relatives and family members who have gone ahead of us. And this time, our list included the people who have perished during the typhoon. Lakip pa an mga kalag nga pinanhikalimtan. And because I was not able to go to Tacloban to join in any activity, my family lighted candles outside our house in solidarity with the Candle Light Memorial. May their souls rest in peace. May the wounds that the tragedy brought us heal in Gods time and may we continue to move forward.
