Excellence at Richards: Bulldogs take Ice Bucket Challenge Its hardly surprising that the Ice Bucket Challenge, the massive fund raiser for ALS, has found its way to Richards (big hearts around here). Foreign language teachers, doused by their all-too-willing students, answered the bell. In addition to donating money to ALS -- amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrigs Disease -- these wonderful people will donate to the scholarship fund honoring our friend and colleague Matt Gavin. Matt, we all know, died in May 2013 after a battle with cancer. Matt taught social studies and coached tennis and Scholastic Bowl at HLR. Last spring we named the new tennis courts for him.
