Excellent day yesterday with Chuck & Mimi on a visit to Amish Country (although a combination of too much wine the previous night and not paying attention did lead me to believe that we might be visiting a small enclave of Scotland in rural Pennsylvania populated with wee ruddy cheeked, ginger headed men dressed in tammies and kilts - oh no, that would be Hamish Country!) Stopped via the Shady Maple - Lancaster Countys largest smorgasbord with 200 feet (Ive seen shorter trains) of all you can eat Pennsylvania Dutch Fair. One of the labels simply said Filling which seemed a little pointless - it was all filling as far as I was concerned. Lots of buggies, washing lines (no electricity), covered bridges, and some fantastic place names - driving a horse and cart through Intercourse would always be special I feel, no sniggering at the back! Returned back through Valley Forge - beginning of the end for the English, beginning of the beginning for the American people - for a splendid day in the company of fantastic friends
