Excerpt- That scene will be forever etched in my mind till the day that I die. I know that one day, I will see these men, women, and children again when we all get to heaven. Imagine this if you will. I am a bi-vocational pastor of a small church. I have been in the ministry for eleven years at that point. During those eleven years, I had preached every single Sunday morning with the exception of vacations. That’s at least fifty Sundays each year. After every sermon on Sunday morning and on many Sunday nights, I have given an invitation to salvation. Same invitation that I had just given to the villagers in Malawi. That means that I have given at least 550 invitations minimum up to that point. During that time less than 50 people had come to know Christ in eleven years in the ministry as the pastor. Here I am, 10,000 miles from home and I give that same simple message with a singular invitation—get saved and go to heaven. No works required. Nothing about rededication or church membership. The Law couldnt save them. Plain and simple, an invitation to salvation. More than fifty people got saved after one message and one invitation. I traveled 10,000 miles to witness the mighty hand of God moving on a people! Ross was right! “Then He said to His disciples, ’The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.’” (Matthew 9:37)
