Excerpt Chapt 11 Practice good self care every day. Taking good care of you is your job and the way you can feel nurtured and sustained. Self care can be defined in any way you choose. I define it through eating the foods that provide me with the energy I desire and taking good care of me through daily activities. A long walk in nature can revive me from any experiences I might have felt were draining. A long hot bubble bath or eating some dark chocolate is just a few of the ways we can take care of us. Take time to play and laugh. Laughter can shift any mood anytime. What did you find fun at one time but your schedule became too full to allow it? Make the time to start doing it again or start something new. Put yourself first and take care of you. The alternative to putting yourself first will be your reservoir will be drained and you won’t have enough of you when you try to help others. Schedule time just for you daily and use it however you choose to. Use your five senses as much as you can and enjoy the sensations. Smell wonderful scents, taste wonderful tastes, hear wonderful sounds, see beautiful sights, and touch wonderful feels. Are you taking the time to really savor all the tastes of your meal? Do you linger a few moments longer when you smell something really attractive and allow the sensation to embrace you? Are you listening to music that you enjoy? Are you finding beauty around you? If you are, wonderful and you are practicing good self care, and if you are not then you can begin at anytime.
