Excerpt from Article: MR. BAKER: What would you change in Washington right now? GOV. CHRISTIE: Well, the people, predominantly. Both parties have equal blame in whats going on here. Listen, I have a completely Democratic legislature in New Jersey. How do you do all these things that dont appear to be traditional Democratic things with a Democratic legislature? Its about human relationships. Nobody in this city talks to each other anymore. Or if they do, they dont speak to each other civilly. They dont develop relationships. They dont develop any sense of trust between each other. MR. BAKER: Whos to blame? GOV. CHRISTIE: First and foremost, its the president. Because if youre the executive, youre the person who is in charge of making that happen. When Ive developed these relationships with Democratic legislators, it means you have to compromise at times, you dont walk away with everything you want. But man, if I walk away with 70% of my agenda, New Jerseys 70% better than it would have been otherwise. MR. BAKER: Do you think Obamacare can survive? Or does it have to be just completely scrapped and start again? GOV. CHRISTIE: Obamacare is wrong. Its a failure. Its the most extraordinary overreach of government power in the history of our country. What do we need to replace it? We need a robust debate among both sides, unlike last time, where the president jammed this down everybodys throat and got not one Republican vote because he was unwilling to make any compromise, including tort reform. Christi was praising Obama when New Jersey was struck by a hurricane and Obama sent aid immediately; but today hes blaming President Obama for the mess in Congress. The sad truth is, we cant trust anyone to be in our corner, always, BUT GOD!
