Excerpt from Fragile Hopes, Transient Dreams: My Century) I wonder - TopicsExpress

Excerpt from Fragile Hopes, Transient Dreams: My Century) I wonder what the future holds for the child born at the dawn of the Twenty-First Century. Will these pioneers of the future “homestead” on the moon or Mars or some distant, unknown planet? On a day such as this, my view is startlingly clear as far as the eye can see. As I look out over this vast expanse of land, towering grain elevators dominate the landscape like futuristic monuments guarding the plains. My lively imagination envisions a time when our prairie, ravaged by wind, storms and over-production, is depleted, our water supply spent, the barren plain a wasteland where the only sign of previous habitation are these great white symbols of a once-prosperous land. Will creatures from other worlds, in exploring this planet, then ponder as we ponder Stonehenge, the pyramids as to the nature of the entities that created these monolithic structures?
