Excerpt from an email I received from a very angry customer: It was obvious that the person preparing my food was extremely careless. I ordered the huevos rancheros specifically because my server told me it was a popular vegetarian dish.You can imagine how upset I was when I found a few pieces of cheese on the sauce that was covering my eggs! Please ask your cooks to pay better attention. I replied: Im so sorry, -----! We are usually very careful about respecting peoples wishes in regards to special dietary needs. Maybe your server misunderstood. Our huevos rancheros is indeed a very popular vegetarian dish, but it is not vegan. Perhaps you are also dairy free? The cheese, sour cream, & eggs are clearly listed on the menu. It seems as though you requested us to hold the cheese, & Im sorry we didnt do a good enough job at that. Please do visit us again. While its a bit of a stretch for us, we can make a few vegan dishes that are very flavorful. Her final reply: Thank you for the reply. Im not vegan? Im vegetarian. I dont eat animal products. I dont know what that has to do with being dairy free. I should say that the rest of the dish was delicious. The eggs were cooked perfectly. The sauce was quite spicy, but the sour cream cooled it down nicely. Theres more, but Ill spare you the details. Im confused. Or the customer is.
