Excerpt from chapter one Something from Eddie “I have had to fight all the way to Washington and back, many times, for my V.A. rights. That is the only way veterans get their rights from the V.A. Fight for them! The same is true for our service officers. They must fight for the right to represent veterans properly.” Eddie continued to explain in one of his many letters to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), “If the V.A. gives you any guff, take it to the VFW. Then to the U.S. Government. Do not wait until trouble builds up, get in the habit of keeping our congressmen and senators informed of injustices and inequities, both in the law and otherwise.” If Eddie Livingston had any idea how true those words would ring today – in a number of capacities, for both soldiers and civilians – chances are he would not be surprised. He would, however, continue to dawn the mail boxes of his representatives with informative, and sometimes punishing, correspondences that any American would be proud to back wholeheartedly. Eddie Livingston was onto something great in his years of suffering from the inner workings of the government letting him down, but he pressed on. Within his final thoughts in that very same letter to the DAV, he expressed with feeling, “If you see a veteran being mistreated, protest immediately to the widest possible audience!” Little did Eddie know, the world would eventually learn so much from such a simple man. War hero, loving husband and son, committed equal rightest and fervent opposition to all things unfair in this country. Eddie’s story unfolds with laughter, pride, heartbreak and tears, while unveiling an important message to everyone: Never give up. amazon/Something-Eddie-Livingston-Activist-Visionary-ebook/dp/B00K35OPF8/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1399955207&sr=1-1&keywords=something+from+eddie
