Excerpt from link: This technology is going to develop fast, almost certainly faster than we can legislate it. That’s why we need to get ahead of it now. There are legitimate concerns about how AI and autonomous technology will impact the work force and our quality of life. There were in the face of the Industrial Revolution, factory automation, and the internet, too. If we want to make sure that the benefits of these technological advances are widely shared among all people, we need to legislate early and often. Otherwise, the problems experienced by working Americans and the middle class over the last several decades will only get worse. slate/blogs/future_tense/2014/09/12/we_need_to_pass_artificial_intelligence_laws_early_and_often.html I think the purpose of these kinds of innovations is to make more money for fewer people. But the result of that trend is that as the wealth concentrates there are more people with less money, and the consequence is a vicious cycle of ever-increasing unemployment. Eventually the market and banks crash, and more money is created in the name of the 99% to bail out the 1%, and on and on. Slowly, the idea of a complementary economy with an alternative money for the people gains traction, and I believe its inevitable that it will succeed when enough us participate in an alternative that uses a legitimate strategy to genuinely distribute the economic power to people. This could happen almost overnight...but which night? Kevin Parcell reconomy.net
