Excerpt from yesterdays log... 1630: 3 A/E Mason assumed the watch. 1650: Alarm– shaft alley bilge flooding. Upon inspection, I discovered that the outboard stern tube strainer cover had apparently not been secured properly; consequently, a column of water was spewing forth in a non-parabolic fashion across the space before being re-directed by the forward bulkhead directly onto the space heater (off-line). I switched to inboard strainer, replaced the o-ring on outboard strainer, secured the cover properly, and re-aligned outboard strainer. Chief Electrician was notified of possible damage to heater.
