Bridport Literary and Scientific Institute fundraising talk The LSI: Before the Railways; Prosperity, Religion and Leisure Following the huge success of his last talk, historian Tim Connor will give a second illustrated talk looking at the background to and setting up of the Literary and Scientific Institute; a snapshot of Bridport in the mid 1850s. The talk will continue the story from where his last talk finished with the Mechanics Institute, through its reincarnation as a Literary and Scientific Institute. Dr Tim Connor has a particular interest in the architecture of churches and local historic buildings, including the much-loved Bridport Literary and Scientific Institute. In his talk, Dr Connor will the story of the Institute, drawing upon his scholarly research and a wry sense of humour. Friday 28 March, 7.00pm Bar serving drinks from 6.30pm Bridport Town Hall Tickets £6 on the door All profits from this event will support the Bridport Literary and Scientific Institute restoration.
