Exciting news! Library of Congress Historian to Speak in Woodstock! An illustrated personal introduction to the Library of Congress and its unique features will be presented by John Y. Cole at the Woodstock Opera House on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. Tickets are $24 each and may be purchased through the Opera House box office at 815-338-5300 or online at woodstockoperahouse. As both historian of the institution and founding director of the Center for the Book, its reading and literacy promotion office, Dr. Cole has sought to increase public understanding of the key role the Library plays in American government, scholarship, and society. The program is part of the Creative Living Series sponsored by the Woodstock Fine Arts Association, now in its 51st season. Attendees are invited for coffee and conversation at the Stage Left Café beginning at 9:00 a.m.
