Excuse me a moment while I put on my dance tutu and stand on point(e): Im so over reading about how kids blame this dance studio or that dance studio for things they either did not master or get to do. When they attended studio A they talked great about it then they go to studio B and talk crap about A and rave about B only to bad mouth it. Seriously?! Ive been reading all about this on posts other dance professionals are making and I find it to be ridiculous. Every studio has its strength and other things. No one studio is supreme! I dont care how many trophies a dancer has won. Its the dancer who won. People forget the positive and need to realize you carry stuff from every place youve been. Every choreographer has their own style no two are the exact same. Every dancer is trained differently based on their ability even when in the same class. Parents love to think their child us the best. News flash, every child is the best at something and the worst at something and there are 1000s more above & behind them. Get over yourself. You get out of dance what you, YES YOU put in to it. If you approach it half heartily then youll be a mediocre dancer. Its about heart and passion!!! While I preach this to my students lots of teachers & parents dont. Stop focusing on every one else, focus on yourself your own journey. Stop blaming your old dance school or teachers for your short comings. Take corrections as a compliment, it means the teacher was watching you, dont brush them off. I promise you that the reason you didnt point your toes wasnt because of your teacher, its because you forgot about the process. You learn to point your toes day one! So for all my dance teaching friends who are going through this just teach with your heart and understand some people just dont have the heart to be a dancer they just go through the motions. Focus on the accomplishments no matter how small and continue to encourage. Okay, tutu off.
