(Exo 23:20-21) Behold, I send an Angel before you, to keep you in - TopicsExpress

(Exo 23:20-21) Behold, I send an Angel before you, to keep you in the way, and to bring you into the place which I have prepared. Beware of him, and obey his voice, provoke him not; for he will not pardon your transgressions: for my name is in him. Gods promise to Abraham was to bless him, make him a blessing, and bless all the families of the earth through him. jAbraham believed God. The establishment of the Law did not cancel Gods promise. The promise of the Law was that the man who keeps all of Gods commandments and judgments would live ... the promise of life. But, no one has made God a debtor to where He owes them life, because none of us has kept all of Gods commands and opinions about what is right and holy ... we have all walked after the lustings and imaginations of our own hearts. To enforce His Law, God put an Angel in charge of guarding His holiness ... to keep sin from abiding in His presence. This Angel was like a sword with two edges ... to cut going out, and to cut coming in. Outside the camp were the heathen and the enemies of Israel ... and the Angel would give the Hebrews the victory in their conquest of the Promised Land. Inside the camp was the potential for uncleanness, defilement, and sin ... and the Angel would execute Gods wrath upon the Hebrews who did not bring the required atonement for their sin. Gods presence would remain with Israel, but wherever there was sin, it had to be judged and purged ... whether it be ridding the Promised Land of idolators, or ridding the camp of the Hebrews from idolators. It was the work of our Lord Jesus Christ to go before us. He lived the life of perfect obedience that we could not live, in our place. He died as an innocent Lamb, to be the acceptable substitute for our guilt and sin. He went to Hell for us so that we wont have to go. He ascended to Heaven ahead of us to prepare a place for us. Jesus is God in the flesh, the Son of God ... the Lord who created all things ... and to Him has been committed all judgment. Now, we are not judged out of the Law fearing death at the hands of the Avenger ... we are judged by how we have obeyed His voice and received His grace and gifts ... whether or not we followed when He called our name, or kicked against Him and rebelled even more. Some day He will divide those who have received the Promise of God, from those who are still trying to prove that they can earn their way into Heaven by their own righteousness, by their own works. He will save only those who have called on His Name, for salvation from eternal torment and the Second Death. The Law was no joke ... it had no mercy for those who didnt keep its provisions. What about those consider themselves good people, who ought to go to Heaven because their good outweighs all their bad? Jesus did for us what we could not do, He kept the Law in our place. Now, we are free, and choose to follow Him, being led by the Holy Ghost ... and He will not lead us far from the righteousness of the Law, nor from the holiness of God ... on the contrary, the Holy Ghost leads us into true sanctification and holiness ... the kind that comes from yielding to the urgings of His Spirit living in us. It is His job to keep us on the narrow road that leads to life. We cannot work our way to Heaven because we all sin and need the Saviour. Eternal Life is a gift that we receive from the Lord. My prayer today is that all who feel their need for salvation ... each one who senses that God is not pleased with them ... every one who feels the weight of sin and rebellion ... that knows theyre not right with God ... would humble themselves, and call on that Name that can save the vilest offender, the sickest sinner ... just call on the name of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the only Saviour. You dont ever have to fear death or judgment ever again ... if you ask Him to save you from the penalty of your sins, and to come into your heart to live forever, and to reign and rule on the throne of you heart as your Lord and Master. He has promised to come in ... if you open the door ... in Jesus name.
