Exodus 20: 5 from the Bible states, “I visit the iniquity of the fathers on the children, to the third and fourth generation…” It just doesn’t seem fair that God would punish the children and grandchildren of a man for his particular sin…..or does it? Why would God require the offspring of a man to face the consequences of a father’s sinful behavior? Perhaps the children were aware of their father’s sin, yet did nothing to stop it, then his sin adversely effected others. All I know is the Bible is true, children will suffer from the sinful actions of their father. It is written in scripture and cannot be avoided....the children will bare the consequence. Nevertheless, the consequences can be lightened and even forgiven through confession to God and restitution to the wronged persons. “Behold Lord, if I have defrauded (sinned) against anyone, I will give back four times as much.” And Jesus said, “Today salvation has come to this house, because he, too, is a son of Abraham.” (Luke 19:8-9) Restitution can break this generational curse.
