Expansion/contraction, filling/emptying, excitation/release, charge/discharge~ This basic pulse marks life at every level. Our head fills with an idea before we manifest it, flurries of activity are followed by down-time, we grow hungry, eat, digest, and eliminate, we long for another, and join them, and individuate again, and so on. Still somehow we feel surprise when we need to rest: Why am I tired?, or when a hangover follows a party, or when grief and fear wash over us even while surrounded by good. We are waves riding waves, crests and troughs sometimes aligned, sometimes amiss, all times filling and emptying, and always, always filling again.
