Ezeregy dal, amit érdemes meghallgatni: 0269 Frank Sinatra (1969): My Way Writer: | Paul Anka, Claude François, Jacques Revaux, Gilles Thibault Producer: | Don Costa, Sonny Burke Label: | Reprise Album: | My Way (1969) Twenty-seven-year-old former teen idol Paul Anka was on holiday in France when a song playing on the radio caught his attention. Written by singer Claude François after his split from French pop star France Gall, “Comme d’habitude” was a syrupy ballad that Anka disliked but found intriguing. Having quickly snapped up the rights, Anka returned to America and forgot all about the song until an impromptu meal with Frank Sinatra provided his lightbulb moment. Sinatra was complaining about his divorce from Mia Farrow and a recent dip in his career, ending by threatening to retire from the music business altogether. Anka promptly decided to rewrite the lyrics of “Comme d’habitude” to reflect Sinatra’s outlook as a man who, looking back over his career, had seen it all and regretted nothing. Sinatra’s final version, which also slightly altered the melody of the original, was recorded in half an hour on December 30, 1968, and rush-released shortly afterward, rapidly becoming an international hit (U.S. No. 27; U.K. No. 5). In Britain, it has spent a record-breaking time in the Top Forty. The song’s self-aggrandizing pomp became an anthem for the rest of Sinatra’s career until his death, in 1998. Over the years, it has been recorded by more than a thousand different artists, including Elvis Presley and Sid Vicious. It remains the most requested song in karaoke bars. youtu.be/kl4Uh5nOFAg
