F/a/o :Mavis Lakeland/Red River Club/Emily: I think maybe I am still snookered-although I mentioned this to Emily on Friday [lunch], and she put up her hand as if to say: there are no engagement rings on my hand. Then I realised after leaving the Club that it was her right hand she showed me so I think it was only just a gentle tease really. I cannot see her at the club on Sunday for lunch-as I forgot that I am needed to have lunch with Alan Faulkner at Asdas, and as he has Emphesema I will be helping him with his shopping and running him home. If Emily really like me she could come to Asdas on Sunday and have lunch with us-but she would not get a lift home as my latest car is only a 2 seater [Sports ]. Alan has been getting me music of the Internet-the last was Rhapsody on a theme-Paganini by Rachmaninoff . It is in Key D flat which musicians will tell you is fairly difficult to play as it has 5 flats. I find it easier to to just remember the Naturals as there are only 2 [C and F], and just play everything else in Flats. Emily is a smart girl with a qualification in Accountancy-the world is her Oyster-and she is unlikeley to choose an incurable romantic like me as a future partner. But I have her best interests at heart and wish her every happiness with a snooker player or whoever. Re: my car : It is 24 years old and might not need taxing next year-hence the purchase at a bargain Price for cash. I am not rich like Simon Cowell Emily. Any friend of Mavis Lakeland can/and should be a friend of mine, and I was flattered that you found my overtures on Friday amusing-even if you just want my heart to play with for a while!!
