FACTS ABOUT BENUE MY STATE IN NIGERIA:Benue State was created on 03/02/1976;Benue State in the MidEast region of Nigeria with the population of over 3.8MILLION in 1991,Tiv,Idoma and Igede are the predominant Languages.there are other ethnic groups including Etulo and Abakwa with the capital at makurdi,Benue is a rich agricultural region;Some crops grown there are:P potatoes,cassava,Soya bean,guinea corn,flax,yams and beniseed.Benue State is named after the River Benue and was formed from the former Benue - plateau in 1976,along with Igala,and some part of kwara Stat were carved out to become part of the new Kogi State. Traces of Igbo people and other tribes are found in the boundry area of Ebony State and Enugu State in Local government like Oju and Obi local Government areas. Gabriel Suswam is the governor and Steven Lawani as a deputy both are of peopless Democratic party PDP Members. Benue State have three universities 1.Federal University of Agricultur Makurdi. 2.Benue State University (BSU)Makurdi. 3.Mkar university Bgoko.It has two polytechnics,Namely,Benue State polytechnic Ugbokolo,Fidel polytecnic Gboko,as well as akperan Orshi college of agriculture.It has three colleges o education :Namely:Federal college of education gasha;College of education Oju;and college of education Kadtina Ala.My Benue our great Benue,hmm!
