FAM 19th June 2013 A meeting of representatives of trade associations of entire Maharashtra was held in Mumbai at FAM office today to discuss The steps to take forward the on going agitation against State Govt.’s unflexible stand to impose LBT. Representatives from 19 Corporations were present in the Meeting. There was severe criticism of Govt.’s attitude to stick to its stand to enforce LBT Act, inspite of its attention was drawn towards the impractical act that will promote corruption and harassment of the traders as administration of the act will bring back much maligned Inspector Raj. Members also condemned the actions of the Chief Secretary that are contarary to the promises given by the Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Prithviraj Chavan once in the presence of Shri Milind Deoraji MP and Union Minister on 4th May’2013 and second time in the presence of Shri Sharad Pawar, Union Minister for agriculture and President of NCP, the party which is in power in the State being a alliance partner in the coaliation Govt. on 24th May’2013. Hon’ble Chief Minister has promised to constitute a joint Committee of traders and Govt. officials to find out the Solution to the present impasse on the issue of LBT. It is unfortunate that chief secretary has prefered to over rule the order of chief minister and has decided not to form the committee. Instead of forming the committee the Chief Secretary is trying to divide the trading community by inviting representatives of individual small associations to give suggestions / submissions on implimentation of LBT In the meeting , members present have unanimously decided to intensify the agitation against LBT by taking following actions. To observe two days trade bandh in entire Maharashtra on 15th and 16th July’2013. To address letters to Hon’ble Chief Minster, Hon’ble Shri Sharad Pawar and to the Chief Secretary of Maharshtra protesting against their going back on the promise of appointing a committee to find an alternate to LBT as well to show our displeasure the way the Chief Secretary and the State Govt. are handling the issue by adopting unethical and undemocratic means to break the morale of small traders. To resort to non-cooperation as regards to either payment of tax liability or to deal with the govt. To approach MLAs, MLCs and MPs of Maharashtra and give them letters of protest and also to request them to support the FAM in its agitation against LBT. To display black flags on every shops and commercial Establishments against LBT To educate consumers about black law of LBT Not to vote Congress candidates in the forth coming State and Central elections if LBT act is not withdrawn by then. FAM’s representatives will tour all over Maharashtra to unite the trading community against its fight against LBT. From FAM Pradeep Shah, Javerchand Gala󾕋 Kindly spread this message to as many as member associations of FAM.
