FAN QUESTION: My son is a little over 4 months old and is exclusively breast fed. Weve had absolutely no trouble until recent days. He latched from the very beginning like a champ and I never had any pain. A mamas dream. I work about 10 hours a week and go to school full time and while Im away, he gets bottles of my expressed milk from his daddy and I pump (usually in my car). In the beginning we had no trouble. He ate 5 ounces and I usually pumped the same. All of a sudden it has been dropping more and more. Now in one pumping session I can barely get 3 ounces and when Im with him he wants to eat constantly. I can tell hes not getting enough and its breaking my heart. He has slept through night since about 6 weeks, but is now waking for a feeding at 3:30am every night. I feel like Ive tried everything. We made lactation cookies, Im drinking Gatorade and water by the gallons, and trying my hardest to pump as much as I can. Nothing seems to be working. I had to pump 5 times yesterday just to get as much as he ate with his dad. What else can I do? I am worried about trying Fenugreek because Ive heard some bad things about tummy issues. At this point I am desperate and there is no way Im giving up. I want to breast feed for at least another 6 months. Let me know if you have any suggestions please. And by the way he is still having a lot of wet and poopy diapers do that makes me happy :) Posted by CARYN
