FAN THEORY TIME. Blue Skys Rio came out in 2011, yes? We all know this. The sequel is out now, in 2014. So heres my hypothesis; Rio 2 is set three years after Rio 1, taking this long to make. Heres my point. Blu, a loveable, clumsy, smart oaf, has now matured into a somewhat more relatable father figure. Jewel too has calmed down a little, getting used to family life. This could just be because they have kids, yes? Well, how about this. Nigel looks in considerably worse shape, and has almost no scars from his plane incident following the first film sending. This makes me think hes had time to heal from the operation. Also, look at Linda and Tulio, they look a little older and more mature too. Not to mention Fernando, who is set to be 16 years old in Rio 2, (source The art of Rio) and looks about 12 or 13 at the end of the first one. The only inconsistency, is that at the end of the first film, the two Macaws had newborns. The kids would be a lot older than they are in the sequel if it were 3 years in the future. But then again, inconsistencies like this happen ALL THE TIME. Lets look at the awful Alpha and Omega 2. At the end, they lived in a house. But at the start of number 3, theyre back in the wild? Huh? Lemme know what you guys think. As I say, this is a theory, not a proven fact, so please debate with me on this, Id like to gain insight as to what you all think. Ill tag those who I think might be interested.
