FARMING UPDATE: The last of the Goats kidded this week, another single and it was another girl. Mrs Cs little herd has produced 12 Kids this year (9 little girls and 3 Boys), the girls we will keep for breeding and Mrs C is still searching for a Billy Goat. There will be 13 (unlucky for some) ladies to go to the Billy this Autumn. The gestation period of a Goat is 150 days (5 months approx.) With the relatively mild and short (as far as keeping animals in is concerned) winter here at Chyvarloe we are going to put the Nannies to the Billy in September so we should start and finish kidding in February - early April next year meaning the youngsters will be able to make more use of the Spring. On the breeding front Rosie (our youngest Spaniel) is having her season and Pogo is showing her a lot of romantic attention; evening strolls to the Bar etc. Fingers crossed by our Easter Open Day next year there will be more little Kids and some little Pogos running around........
