FB Friends - Im so sorry to fill up your FB feed with reports of where I am while on this Chicago trip - BUT my friends (not FB friends - but my other friends - the ones who will come and get me if if have a break down of any sort - and my bosses who own the van - like to keep up with where we are. And I LIKE for them to KNOW where we are, uh... just in case. I can easily press check-in on FB as I drive - and it automatically posts where I am. Its a good, safe, system - except you all have to see it too. Its over for this week. Im home and headed for bed. The count for this trip is 46. FORTY SIX babies (many of them older dogs) are out of Mississippi shelters, and very soon will be headed for their new homes with the good people of Chicago. Some of the babies commented on the cold when they got off the van on the last trip, when it was snowing like crazy and just about at zero degrees - but today - none of them even noticed that they were in a different zone. They were wagging and licking and happily meeting the PAWS volunteers. Most of them will get cleaned up after last nights trip and go to the adoption center to meet the public by tomorrow. The others will follow shortly, after whatever kind of makeover they might need. PAWS is a great place! And the Mississippi shelters are SO grateful to Animal Rescue Front of Massachusetts, who owns the van and funds and organizes the transport. Me too! Im blessed to be able to participate. Im taking names of folks who want to go with me - and/or drive on their own. I cant TELL you how rewarding it is to be involved in this - I dont know exactly what to call it - so Ill say rescue, except its done on SUCH a grand scale. For example - when someone asks YOU what did you do today? How would you like to say I changed 46 lives today! And thats only the DOGS. It doesnt count the members of the families who will love these dogs, and be forever changed, as we all have by our four legged family members. OK - night. night. I think I might be a little manic. I last slept Wednesday night - and not too well even then. Again, I apologize for you ALL having to see every time the van crossed a state line. If I can think of a better system Im implement it.
