FB Friends: Can you help? (no this is not spam or a hoax) I was asked, through my current job, to coordinate an effort to provide support during the Holidays for a Veteran family. I was excited to do so and had everything lined up... now hours were cut by half and the project is cancelled -- but the NEED is still here. Can YOU HELP!? Please read below for specifics about our family. I have set up a paypal account (tealadykay@gmail) if giving that way would be easier for you -- or gift cards/items can be delivered/sent to us. Everything will be taken to CHARLOTTE BRIDGE HOME on Monday, December 15th.. Thank you for your thoughtfullness and generosity! Happy Holidays to ALL! Mary*, Army Veteran and single mother, served from 2005-2013 and spent one year in Iraq. When she got out of the military, she decided to pursue her dream of entrepreneurship and open her own beauty salon. She is fairly new to the area and is still building her clientele. She has had her salon for less than a year. Her desire to be active in her children’s lives (son, Joseph* – age 7 and daughter, Sandra* – age 2) is the main reason why she chose to open her own business. As with many of our Veterans, life outside of the military isn’t as cut and dry as it is while they serve. It took a while to learn how to navigate the civilian world again. She is well on her way, but a hand up can go a long way for a new business owner. There is a specific need for holiday food/meals, clothes/shoes for the children and any assistance for furniture, (washer/dryer, microwave and dresser). Mary would also like to travel north to see family and could use assistance with gas money as well. (the exact destination was not shared, but a conservative estimate of $300 should get them there and back) Last year we collected well over $1000 for “our family”. I am excited about the possibilities this year! *Names changed for privacy
