FBF: The quality of these pictures isnt very good, but I like them nonetheless, because they show a pumping operation from a portable tank. We used those for awhile after the 1976 annexation due to the scarcity of hydrants in the annexed areas. The tanks were a real pain to use because of the difficulty of maintaining a draft during operations. About the only way to do it was to run a booster or other line back to the tank in order to keep water flowing at all times. The date is late 70s and Im pretty sure the location is Deyerle Road SW. Units on the scene are Engines 4 & 7, Squad 1 (out of station 3), and Chiefs Car 1. Im a little unsure about the ladder truck. I want to say that its Ladder 4 (out of station 9) because I dont think Ladder 2 (then out of station 7) was ever painted that color. Some other old (older?) geezer will probably remember. The units are of various colors because that was the era when the RFD couldnt make up its mind about what color it wanted to go with. For awhile we had standard red, dark red, lime green/yellow, and red/white combinations.
