FEAR The fear of the Elohim ( Yahvah) as a theme in the Bible(Tanach & Brit Chadasha) if treated at various levels. However, there is fear that grips men whose origin is not from Elohim. Fearing the Elohim does not mean that you tremble at the mention of His name; or behave in a cowardly nature when you appear in his house. ( I do not mean that humbling outwardly is not acceptable; it is, but more important is the inward expression of respect and godly fear). 18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.-- 1 John 18. The fear described above is the one we see with many Christians. The implication here is: Only those who sin should have this kind of fear, because they fear ELOHIMs punishment. Where in the Bible do we see this kind of fear? Gen 3:8-10; 18:15; Acts 24:25 But Elohim (HaShem) commands us not to fear; the elect of Elohim must not fear. Gen 21:17 Acts 18:9 Ex 14:13; 12:20 Given by Joshua........Jos 10:25 Given by Samuel.........1 Sam 12:20 Given by Elijah............1 Kings 17:13 Given by David..............1 Ch 22:13 Given by prophet Jahaziel...........2 Ch 32:7 Given by Isaiah...... Is 44:2, 8 Given by Jeremiah.......Jer 42:11 Given by Yahshua.........Mat 14:27; Mk 5:36; Lk 12:4,7,32; Jn 6:20 Given by an Angel......Lk 1:13,30; Lk 2:10; Ac 27:23-24. Fear as Reverence to Elohim This kind of fear is based on our love for Elohim. We have been commanded to fear Elohim. Deuteronomy 6:43...Fear the Lord your Elohim, serve him only and take your oaths in his name. Other commands to fear Elohim are in Jos 24:14 2 Ch 19:7; Ps 33:8; Pr 3:8 3:7; Ecc 12:13. We fear the Elohim because of his glory ( Lk 2:9; because of his holiness Rev 15:4; His majesty Ps 96:4-6; His greatness Is 12:24; His forgiveness Ps 130:4 and his faithfulness...Ps 119:38). Fearing the Elohim is a form of praise to him (Ps 22:23), and also a way of serving him according to what he commands Ps 2:11. In addition, the fear of Elohim is a way to fight evil because there is so much power in it (Pr 8:13; Pr 16:6). Fearing Elohim is becoming wise ( Ps 111:10; Pr 1:7), and also a way to lengthen life ( Pr 10:27). ELOHIM loves those who fear him ( Ps 103:11,13,17), and also saves them (Ps 85:9). Finally, Elohim blesses those who fear him ( Ps 115:12-13), and also provides for those who fear him ( Ps 34:9; 111:5). Shalom Eloha....Shalom Aleichem .....Shalom Shabbat
