FEATURED LETTER on IT’S COMPLICATED with ALEX “Should I take back my cheating wife?” (a pretty long letter but really worth reading) Hi Alex! I need help with this problem I’m having with my wife. Just call me Theo, Im 30 years old and Ive been married to my wife ( call her Georgina shes my age ) for 8 years with no children. Our marriage was fine at first , we were happy and passionate , we had our share of arguments and disagreements but we always make up. We lived a simple , normal life, we are not rich but I have always believed we were rich in love but thats not the case anymore...my wife is having an affair. Six months ago , I discovered the affair when my friend call me informed me that he saw my wife in a fancy club with this older man dressed in a fancy business suit and they were kissing. I drove straight to the club and my friend was right , I saw my wife sitting on this old guys lap laughing and kissing. I confronted them , I grabbed her and dragged her outside and we argued outside the club. When I asked her why is she doing this , she blurted out that she doesnt love me no more and want to be with the old guy. When I saw the old guys face , I recognized him from social gatherings. Hes a wealthy businessman. My wife told me that she wanted him instead me because she feels more loved by him , he gives her everything that I cant give and she wants children because Im infertile. I told my wife to come home and I was willing to forgive as long she ends the affair , she refused. I went back home brokenhearted , I waited for her to come home and she never did. I went to work the next day and when I came back home, all of her clothes were gone from the closet. She even left a note saying she was sorry and hope I can find another woman who can make me happy. She also said that shes sorry for desiring a better life for herself with someone else. I cant believe its money and materialism that drove my wife away from me , she wasnt like that before. She only complained about our lifestyle and social status starting a year ago , Im guessing thats when the affair started because I noticed a change in her behavior. She would say that she wants to us to buy a brand new car , a big house and go on regular shopping sprees which we cant afford. She envied upper class women who had everything and that she had nothing. During this time , she started to criticized my infertility saying Im a worthless man who cant give her children. I just ignored that thing she said. How could I have been so blind??? I tried my best to give my wife a good life, Im not rich but I never neglected her needs. I love her so much and she repays me by leaving me for another man. He maybe a rich man but I know deep in my heart that my love for her is stronger than his. Recently , my wife has reached out to me saying that she wants me to take her back because the old man has dumped her for another girl , an 18-year-old. Not only that , shes pregnant with his child and he refuses to acknowledge that it’s his. She begged for my forgiveness and said she has nowhere else to go. She said she regrets being greedy and selfish and also regrets the pain she has caused me and destroying our marriage. I dont know what to do , I feel sorry for her but she has hurt me and broke my heart and trust. My family and friend have told me not to take her back. What should I do? Should take my wife back?
