FEBRUARY PRAYER GUIDE February 2 – Read 2 Peter 1:2. Let me ask – could you use a bit of grace? In need of a peace infusion anywhere in your life? Even if you have grace and peace would you like to see them flood in with abundance? Well, reread this verse. Let me restate that; reread what God has to say to you in this verse which He wrote. Need grace? Want peace? Then get to knowing God and Jesus. That’s why we study God’s word – that’s why we encourage its memorization and meditation, that’s why I preach, George holds classes, we encourage you to have, bring and use your Bible – in fact want in on a little secret – that is the only reason I invest the time to write these prayer guides – not to fill your heads with Bible stuff, not to aid you in getting an ‘A’ in a theology exam, not to keep you from trembling when a Jehovah Witness knocks on your door – this is not about filling your head, but filling your new heart and life with the grace and peace greater than your circumstances because you have come to know, and know deeply the God who is, and Jesus who is Risen. Let me clarify a couple things before you pray – First understand that grace is God’s actual concrete provision to us to become the person He wants us to be and to do the things He has commanded us to do…with joy. And peace, biblically is never anchored or contingent on any particular circumstances we may find ourselves in at any given moment. It is way bigger and mightier than that. It is the peace of heaven that comes from knowing at all times God is on His throne, His kingdom is at work and will ultimately be all there is. Need any grace? Want that kind of peace? Then Peter’s advice is, get busy knowing. Today examine your own life where you might need grace and/or peace. What knowledge of God can change how you see and interact with that temporary situation? Also be honest with yourself – allow the Holy Spirit to help you see and take meaningful next steps – with all the sermons you have endured, reading you have done, worship you have engaged, years of bible studies, verses memorized, Sunday school hours logged – how deep is your actual ‘knowing’ of God – not just informationally – and that is an important and critical piece of this – but in the end how deep is your relational knowing of God and Jesus? Here is a bit of grace for you – wherever you are you are. Knowing where you are is essential if you want to move forward in a meaningful way. God always meets you where you are (grace!!) and then walks with you one intentional step at a time (more grace!!!!) every day of your life (abundant grace!!!) to get to know Him in such a way more and more you become like Him. (supercalifragelisticexpealidotious grace.) Now pray.
