FEC Meeting Cancelled In Honour Of Late Captain Sambo Nigeria’s Federal Executive Council meeting that holds every Wednesday will not hold on April 30. The cancellation of the meeting was contained in a statement by Sam Nwaobasi, the spokesman for the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Pius Ayim. According to the statement, President Goodluck Jonathan directed that the Federal Executive Council (FEC) will not meet to enable Council members attend the three day prayer for the late Captain Sabo Sambo, the younger brother of the Vice President. ‘A Very Tragic One’ Captain Sambo, one of Nigeria’s finest pilots, died on Sunday in an auto accident on the airport road in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. Captain Sambo, 60 , was on his way to catch a flight when his tire punctured. His car was said to have hit a tree and went up in flames. In his condolence message, President Jonathan described the death as ‘a very tragic one’, coming at a time the country still needed the services of Captain Sambo. He prayed that God would grant his soul eternal rest and asked the Vice President, the family, the government and people of Kaduna State to bear the loss with fortitude. The Vice President was away in Tanzania on an official visit when the news broke that the younger brother had passed on. The burial had already taken place according to Islamic rites.
