FEDERAL GOVERNMENT PLEASE SAVE PUBLIC EDUCATION!!!!!!! kick-off on a Nationwide protest to save public education commenced today taking its route from Nigeria Labour Congress Office Tejuoso Yaba to Maryland in Lagos state with Unions in the education sector (ASUU,NASU,SSANU,NAAT,ASUP,SSANIP.COEASU,SSUCOEN & NUT )with student union president in UNAAB,LASU,UNILAG,OOU and others . The implication being disruption in academic calendar, falling standard of education at all levels, a high level of general insecurity and a bleak future for the current generation of the Nigerian child. Government in Nigeria today operate anti-poor policies with the fools making laws for the wise to imbibe as they are not bothered about Public Education. Funding of Public Education is not given the proper priority it deserves, because 98% of the children of those in Government are being trained in private universities and foreign countries. Most of the so called Government are beneficiaries of Public Education, some of them setup Universities in Nigeria and abroad with looted Public funds this can’t make them bothered since none of their families and relatives are not affected with the on-going 7th week of the Nationwide ASUU strike. The Nigerian teacher and non-teaching staffs are the poorest paid all over the world. Yet, the Nigeria exploiting class-President, Governors, House of rep, State Assemblies, LG Chairmen and Council earned the highest jumbo pay in the world with our education having 8% in the fiscal budget of a 168 million Nigerian, this just indicate that there is no value for education in Nigeria and a nation that can develop in education has no future for the upcoming generation. Central to save Public Education is to insist that Government in Nigeria must fund our Education in line with the international standard of 26% for education and make it tuition free at all level.
