Obesity appears to hurt the eggs and maybe the endometrium. So before you start IVF, aim to get your weight into the “normal” BMI range, or as close to it as possible. Even if you’re not fully in the ‘normal’ range, a 5 to 10 percent reduction in body weight can really be beneficial for IVF outcomes. But don’t go too far — being underweight can have a similarly negative effect on pregnancy success.
