FILIPINO NETIZENS AND PUBLIC POLICY We are living in very interesting times so to speak and Filipino netizens should look forward to milestone events that will have profound repercussions in the life of our nation. Intelligent and objective discernment with appurtenant action is incumbent upon us to help steer public policy, to align with the national interest and welfare of all Filipinos. Among the upcoming developments are the geopolitical dynamics between the US and China as it relates to the Philippines, the charter change initiative, the Bangsamoro agreement, the disaster recovery and mitigation efforts, and of course the 2016 national elections. Drawing from analysis and projection of the upcoming events, mismanaging any of the forthcoming events will have broad and serious negative repercussions to all of us Filipinos. Given the systemic and structural weaknesses of our public policy making institutions, save perhaps for the judiciary? We seek a capable transformative leadership to ensure sustainable development and equitable progress. The all encompassing branch of governance i.e. the concerned and responsible citizenry must assume a pivotal role to galvanize public policy and programs towards the common good. The netizens as key non-government policy initiators are widely dispersed, but digitally connected with the capability to communicate, collaborate and form consensus for action. Armed with the voice of millions of well discerning citizens, certainly the power of governance emanates from the people. The input of every participant in this endeavor is deemed valuable, more so with the guidance of a disinterested fountainhead. When wisdom and expert advice syncs-in to the consciousness of empowered initiators, there is no power on earth that can stop it from achieving its goal. For comparison, during the formative and most challenging years of the Jewish nation, they elected a judge, not a king, to lead them from generations of captivity and exploitation, to the promise land... and served them well.
