FINALLY got to talk to Dr. Doss the State Vet about the sick birds that I received in the mail. He told me NOT to treat them with medication. LEAVE them in quarantine and if they stop sneezing then they are probably ok. If sneezing continues after 7-10 days to CULL them. He is VERY upset with the seller for saying that this bird PICKED something up in the mail or has shipping fever. IT JUST DOESNT HAPPEN. The wet box means nothing to Dr. Doss. You just dont endanger your whole flocks health by introducing birds that could be CARRIERS. PERIOD. ITs respiratory and these birds were most likely carriers and it could be something VERY contagious and deadly and he applauded me for thinking CULL first thing. SHIPPING IS STRESSFUL AND STRESS BRINGS THE DISEASE OUT. He only said to continue watching them after I told him how much I paid for these birds. They have been on medication and everyone is still sneezing so I dont have a lot of hope for these 3 birds. Oh and I am getting my NPIP certification. Still waiting on a call from field agents to schedule appointment. Even though I still have some birds under 4 months I can still get my NPIP because those chicks came from an NPIP seller. I made this PUBLIC because I know there are a few out there who arent my friends who NEED to see this.
