FINALLY this could not have come at better time when the newer generation is looking forward to a better Pakistan the older recalls the sacrifices made by them for Pakistan ...... Anwar ul Haq Chisti was born in Jalandhar in 1934. His father worked for the railways and he spent his childhood at the Panipat railway workers colony. He and his close friend were studying in different schools in the same grade but would do their homework together. When Partition was announced, his family decided to migrate. They left Panipat via train. A violent mob boarded the train when it was passing through Batala. They proceeded to Rawalpindi via Sangla Hill where they were given shelter in the sheds of a railway station. Mr. Chisti says that he cannot forget the cry of the wounded people from the train. When they arrived, Mr. Chisti’s family was allotted a small home in Rawalpindi. He had left school in eighth grade in Panipat and completed his remaining education in Rawalpindi. He completed his degree in medicine and surgery from King Edward Medical College Lahore and certificate in cardiology from Vienna, and worked as a medical practitioner in government hospitals.
