FINALY, TERHEMEN TARZOOR HAS BEEN EXPOSED! After serving with the Central Bank of Nigeria in 2000/2001, Terhemen Tarzoor enrolled for his first master’s degree at BSU. In 2004, the Catholic Diocese of Makurdi engaged Terhemen Tarzoor as Training Coordinator, Health Information Centre. His responsibility was to enlighten the uniformed people in the hinterland of Benue State on the ravaging effect of the scourging HIV/AIDS prevalence in the state. This he did with zeal, commitment determination and the fear of God. In 2005, still with the service of the Catholic Diocese of Makurdi, Mr. Tarzoor took up appointment with the Benue State Polytechnic Ugbokolo as Part-Time Lecturer. Because he is a hardworking man, he was simultaneously employed as a Part-Time Lecturer with the University of Agriculture, Management Study Centre Makurdi. He was managing all these jobs because The federal Government and the Benue State Government could not employed this determined and focused young man even with his sound Masters degree. This the situation many Benue youths are facing today and only those who pass through such situation will understand. In 2007, Terhemen Tarzoor took a BOLD STEP and delved into politics. He Contested for Benue State House of Assembly to represent his people from Makurdi North. He was overwhelmingly elected by his people. At the State House of Assembly, Hon. Tarzoor was first appointed House Committe Chairman on Agriculture and Natural Resources and Member, House Committe on Appropriation and Business Rules. Because he excellently handled his duties in the two committees, Terhemen Tarzoor was later appointed Acting Majority Leader in 2009. In 2010, the young, vibrant and distinguished Honourable Tarzoor was appointed to chair the Ad-hoc Committe on Civil Service Pensions, Gratuity and Death Benefits. Hon. Tarzoor ended the 6th Assembly as the Chief Whip of the House. All these responsibilities, Tarzoor tackled with zeal and commitment. Within his four years at the State Assembly Hon. Tarzoor garnered a wide experience in different sectors of the Benue State government and in each assignment he always displayed an excellent performance. He was very social and accommodative; giving listening ears to everyone in need of his attention. All these excellent characters made his colleagues to give him the title, “THE MAN WEY SABI”. In 2011, Hon. Terhemen Tarzoor sought a second term and his people endorsed him. He was declared winner of the election by INEC. In the House of Assembly, Tarzoor was unanimously endorsed by the elders in MINDA as their preferred choice for Speaker of the House. The Members of the House also affirmed the endorsement and Tarzoor was elected Speaker of Benue State 7th House of Assembly. As the Speaker of the BSHA, Terhemen Tarzoor displayed his knack for hard work and tenacity for resource management, he renovated the Assembly Complex and equipped it with state of the art facilities, he increased the salaries of the casual workers by 200 percent, he paid all outstanding salaries, pension arrears, gratuity and benefits been owed by the Hon. Tsumba led House and made sure the State Assembly was loosed from the grip of the executive to be an independent body. He led the Assembly with so much vigour and inclusiveness that robust Benue legislative engagements became the cornerstone of her development. However, this new dawn that was started in Benue legislative oversight was short-lived as the Appeal Tribunal later nullified the mandate handed to him by INEC for perceived irregularities observed during the conduct of the April 2011 elections. The tears and confusion that greeted this verdict among those who knew what Tarzoor was doing for the State was an indication that he was appreciated for his excellent job. Today, the same Tarzoor that displayed Excellency in the Benue State House of Assembly is now a Governorship candidate. May God guide Benue people to vote wisely.
