FINGERS TO FIGHT “Blessed be the Lord my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight:” (Psalm 144:1) King David was a God fearing man from his youth. He knew how to fight and win battles. He slew a lion and a bear as a young shepherd boy. As a youth on errand to the battle field in the war between Israel and the Philistines, he slew the giant, Goliath, despite discouragement from King Saul. David was faithful to his family as a shepherd boy, and to Israel as a soldier and a king. In our text today, David acknowledges God as his Strength, who helped him to triumph in battles. Although he has been a warrior from his childhood, he gave all the glory to God. The story of David applies to Christian youth boys and girls in our time. As a youth, God has saved you from the kingdom of Satan, into the kingdom of His dear Son to wage spiritual war against the kingdom of darkness using the whole armour of God. He expects you to be battle ready with the gospel at all times. You are to pull down Satan’s strongholds, and lead other youths to Christ. Totally yield yourself to God, witness for Christ, and He will bring other youths to Himself through you. Challenge: Be a shining light for Christ. Prayer: Help me Lord to win other youths for Christ. Further Reading: Psalm 18:25-36
