A strong...Hot and dry surface thermal trough will creep into the east slopes of the cascades on monday promoting the potential for plume dominated fire behavior. As the thermal trough continues to migrate eastward monday night and tuesday an incoming low pressure will promote increasing thunderstorm activity from southwest to northeast across all districts. Abundant lightning is possible starting monday evening in the cascades and spreading into the idaho panhandle by tuesday evening. Strong gusty winds are possible with these thunderstorms. ...Fire weather watch remains in effect from tuesday afternoon through wednesday afternoon for thunderstorms with abundant lightning and gusty winds for fire weather zones 674...686 and 101. The national weather service in spokane has issued a fire weather watch for thunderstorms...Which is in effect from tuesday afternoon through wednesday afternoon. * Affected area: fire weather zone 101 northern and central idaho panhandle (zone 101)...Fire weather zone 674 east washington palouse and spokane area (zone 674) and fire weather zone 686 east washington northeast (zone 686). * Thunderstorms: isolated thunderstorms are possible over the mountain districts as early as tuesday. Tuesday evening thunderstorms will become scattered with lal of 3 and 4 and continue through wednesday. Initially thunderstorms will have little precipitation...But will become wet by wednesday morning. * Outflow winds: during tuesday evening initial thunderstorms may produce a gust front of 30 to 50 mph especially over the eastern columbia basin and the valleys of northeast washington and north idaho. * Impacts: abundant lightning with thunderstorms and dry fuels will promote new fire starts. Gusty winds in the vicinity of thunderstorms will aid in the rapid spread of any new and existing fires. A fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are forecast to occur.
