FIRST FRIDAY WITH Kokomo Industrial Art Vignettes by Wallace Integrated Arts Students: Wallace Elementary School of Integrated Arts, with its unique approach to core curriculum studies, strives to feature the rich history that built Kokomo through artistic representations. By transposing elements of our industrial past, the students of Wallace will pay homage to the key industries of Kokomo by using their industrial materials to erect art structures. Kindergarteners have painted roving art displays to house the artworks. Grades have been paired to design and research the art pieces and historical presentations as follows: 1st & 5th graders for Hanyes International; 2nd & 4th for General Motors; and 3rd & 6th graders for Kokomo Opalescent Glass. Each edifice constructed will be placed on roving art carts to make public appearances at their respective corporations, Ivy Tech, City Hall, Kokomo Howard County Public Library (main branch), Indiana University Kokomo, and Wallace. A reception will be held to honor the contributions of ones who have invested their time, resources, and support of this project. A snapshot of the reception includes: Student musical performers: indoor and outdoor violinists and pianists Welcome & thank yous at 5:35: Ashlee Shoaff (author & project manager), Cheryl Sullivan (Kokomo Art Association), Karen Foust (project coordinator & art teacher), LaShaya Williams project coordinator & teacher) Student dance performance: 2nd & 4th graders 5:45pm - students unveil artwork during respective presentations
