FIRST Lego League judging time is here! Want to help kids play with robots, but don’t have a lot of time? Want to feel like an Olympics judge for young engineers for one Saturday? Join us for FIRST Lego League’s November competitions! Judging a FIRST Lego League tournament is easy: you are volunteering ONLY for the Saturday tournament you pick, and you are trained and fed for the day. You work with a partner or two partners, so there are always people to answer questions. All judging uses a well laid out rubric so you know the process and expectations of the kids. What are the tournaments near me? There are a lot, all across the Front Range and in Vail. Rather than listing them all, you will find them at: fll.coloradofirst.org/content/schedule-and-past-events There are three types of judging: • Robot Design Judging (judging robot design) • Project Judging (just like presentations in college, the teams work to solve a problem based on the theme, World Class Learning this year) • Core Values Judging (just like Odyssey of the Mind teambuilding challenges) I know you will enjoy judging! If you have questions (especially when you begin the registration process which became more lengthy this year!), feel free to contact Kerri South, at [email protected], 970-204-9025 (h), or 970-443-2462. Kerri recruits judges for the three qualifying tournaments in northern Colorado: Poudre, Liberty, and Preston, but is happy to answer questions from everywhere in Colorado.
