FIRST ORDER OF BUSINESS: NEW MAJORITY NEEDS TO REIN-IN ROGUE EPA! The out of control EPA is preparing to implement an unnecessarily stringent ozone standard, one that is projected to be the costliest regulation in United States history. ◾It will reduce gross domestic product by $270 billion per year on average over the period from 2017 through 2040, ◾It will result in an average annual loss of 2.9 million job-equivalents[8] through 2040, and ◾It will impose $2.2 trillion in compliance costs from 2017 through 2040. The EPA is destroying the energy industry, driving-up all Americans energy bills by its new proposed regulations to control GHG emissions from existing power plants. These unnecessarily stringent rules, which even the EPA admits will have marginal effect on the environment, will gut the coal industry; which is the greatest source of energy in this country. This amounts to a war on affordable energy, driving costs up for every American. The EPA is proposing to extend its power under the Clean Waters Act to areas never before allowed under the definition of that law. The CWA only covers “navigable waters.” However, the new rule would regulate even ditches and depressions on your land that are dry most of the year, but fill during heavy rain. This water (and land) grab is an attack on property rights; all ready under assault by regulators using the Wet Lands Act. Private property owners would need to obtain permits from the federal government far more often than they already do now when seeking to use and develop their own land. Using the power of the purse, the new Congress should prohibit funding for the implementation of any of these extremist measures; and draft laws to reduced the size and scope of these overweening regulatory agencies. heritage.org/research/reports/2014/08/reining-in-the-epa-through-the-power-of-the-purse
