FISHING REPORT FOR OCT. 16, 2013 NORTHWEST Canton: October 12. Elevation 13 ft below normal, water clear. Channel catfish fair on shad and stink bait near Big Bend Campground. Channel catfish fair on cut bait and stinkbait all over the lake. Walleye fair on spinnerbaits and minnows. Report submitted by Mark Reichenberger, game warden stationed in Woodward County. CENTRAL Arcadia: October 1. Elevation normal, water 68 and murky. Largemouth bass fair on crankbaits early and late. White bass good on rooster tails, silver blades and silver rattle traps early and late. Catfish fair on dough bait, worms, stink bait and cut bait along the bottom early and late. Crappie good on pink and chartreuse jigs, nibbles and worms at 8-14 ft. near brush piles, the open dock, and around rocky points early and late. All other fishing fair. White bass and striped bass hybrids good on grubs and gay blades at 2-6 ft. in shallow areas and docks. Channel catfish and blue catfish good on cut and prepared baits at 6-12 at the dam. Crappie good on minnows and white jigs at 8-15 ft. along the dam. Walleye good on grubs, gay blades and live bait at 3-12 ft. on windy shorelines and drifting drop offs. Crappie fair to slow on live bait, good on small shiners and rosy red minnows at 13-16 ft. around structure or from enclosed crappie dock. Bass fair to good on hard baits and soft plastics off points with rocky structure. White bass and hybrid striped bass good on large live shiners and gold fish, crank baits, jigs, jigging slab spoons, and rooster tails at 6-12 ft deep along the dam and 6-10 ft. deep across the flats. Saugeye fair on jigs tipped with live bait at bottom depths along steep drop offs. Channel catfish good on chicken liver. Bass good on plastic baits mid-day and buzz baits top of water in early morning and late evening. Channel and blue catfish good on juglines and tight-lines baited with cut bait along channel edge. Fishing is decent all along the river from the dam to the mouth. Small striped bass and white bass abundant towards the river mouth where the Arkansas water mixes. Striped bass good on shad and trout in deep holes. Trout good on powerbait, rooster tails and rapalas in deeper holes where river begins to flow. Elevation 1 ft. below normal, water clear. Largemouth bass fair on plastic baits and crankbaits around points and boat docks. White bass slow. Blue catfish fair on shad in shallow flats. Elevation 4 3/4 ft. below normal, water 76 degrees and clear. Largemouth bass and smallmouth bass fair to good on crank baits and plastic combination baits from 5-15 ft. deep in the creeks. Striped and white bass fair to good on sassy shad, live bait and slabs from 10-25+ ft. deep in the river channel. Channel catfish and blue catfish bait to good on live bait, worms and stink baits, at 10 to 20 ft. deer from the Washita river to catfish bay and Sanders Island view on the Red River. Crappie fair to good on minnows and jigs from 5-15 ft. in underwater brush. Sunfish fair on worms, shrimp and tube jigs at 5-10 ft. deep on the fishing docks.
