FISHING REPORT The walleye fishing sucked I did not graph a fish all day. We fished out of the Grams Island State Parks boat launch off to the left just south of the primitive dock. We wanted to fish cactus point but the pressure ridges and 35 mile an hour white out conditions would not let us. The island gave us a little break from the wind so we punched 30 holes from about 32 to 12 feet. From sunrise to 1:00 pm one pike on a tip up in 12 feet of water. We threw everything we had at them jumping from hole to hole like we were doing a deer drive. I said we were moving they did not want to but I promised my two buddies and his daughter that we would catch fish. At Devils Lake there is only two sure things the wind is going to blow and if you go pike hunting up north of Churches Ferry one Lake Irving you are going to catch fish. So we punched 16 more holes and put up 12 tip ups with smelt on them and jigged rubber fish against the side of the Suburban taking shelter out of the wind. We did not get set up till about 3 PM. My one buddy had never even been on the ice before and my other buddys daughter was 8 years old so l was really hoping the flags would pop. My decision to move saved the trip. For the next two hours my buddy and my buddys daughter ran all over the ice chasing flags like a circus show. Myself and my other buddy sat at the truck jigging rubber fish in 7 feet of water and watched the rookies put on a show. We ended up with 16 pike and smiles on faces that were well worth all of the hard work.
