FISHING TARANAKI with Robert J Browning Marokopa heads, a lot - TopicsExpress

FISHING TARANAKI with Robert J Browning Marokopa heads, a lot of water runs out of here so treat with respect, upstream opposite the sand dunes you can cross at half tide unless the river is flooded. (About waist deep). Please respect the local rules and stay off the sand dunes. Good low tide drop offs just above the river exit. There is an outer reef, (low tide reef) visible about 1.5km off shore. it has a submerged swing back to the beach about 20mins north. Feeds a lot of fish. This in effect creates a virtual lagoon the length of the beach. Good fishing right along this stretch. Marokopa South Bay, such an inviting place. I met an old fellow once who got up at 3am on a late spring morning, and tossed a half pilly into a gut 100 mtrs south of the Marokopa river exit. The line peeled, the heart raced, the body ached but he landed a fine marokopa snapper.
