FIT FOR THE MASTER YOU ARE ONLY AS OLD AS YOU ACT 1 - TopicsExpress

FIT FOR THE MASTER YOU ARE ONLY AS OLD AS YOU ACT 1 Corinthians 14:20 New American Standard Bible (NASB) 20 Brethren, do not be children in your thinking; yet in evil be infants, but in your thinking be mature. There is an old saying that goes, “You are only as old as you feel,” and then I like to say, “You are only as old as you act.” The other night on Facebook, I seen a friend of mine had taken one of those silly tests that they put on there where you answer so many questions and they can accurately tell something about you. Well this one was determining how old you were and the one she did said that they were guessing she was 41 years old and I know that she is much, much younger than that. I laughed at that result, so I decided to go ahead and do it myself for fun and the result I got was 23 years old and that really made me laugh. So I had to share that on Facebook and put a comment that said, “You are only as old as you feel. Or as you act!” I got quite a few likes and comments from that post, because I am just “slightly” older than that! LOL. But, there is some truth to these statements about your age, if you are tired all the time, have aches and pains and just do not feel good, you will definitely start to feel old and usually even older than you actually are. But when you are feeling good, working out, have energy and are active you will feel younger than you actually are, most of the time. Also, the way that you act tells alot, if you are mature, responsible and handle adversity well you will seem older than you actually are and people will think of you as being very mature. But, if you are short with people, irresponsible, immature and just have no respect for others than you will be labeled as “acting like a child” and they are probably correct. Now there is nothing wrong with having fun, running around playing games, hanging with teens and chilling, also hanging with your kids and grand-kids and relating to all of them and even listening to a lot of the music they listen too. It helps you to relate to them and you can have some fun also. But, you need to read the verse above again, we need to not be children in our thinking, we need to be mature in our knowledge when it comes to our Father God, His word and His will for us. That way we can help others to know Him, we can guide them, we can give that much needed advice to that teen that is struggling and having major issues, and we can even help ourselves. If we make our thinking immature and childish, that is an open door for Satan to step right in and do His will in your life and that is very bad. This weekend I am taking a group of teens to Ozarks Christian College in Joplin, Mo along with a good Christian woman from our church and we are going to have fun. We will worship together, we will play together, we will joke around and we will also get serious and get into God’s word and grow closer to Him at the same time! By no means do you have to be a “Old Fogey” and have no fun, and feel old, just keep that proper balance, have fun, be young and mature in your relationship with your Father God, And do not forget, “You Are Only As Old As You Act!” Have a Blessed Day!
